Nubar 2010

Hello again! Second post for today! Considering I haven't posted that often this week, I decided to make it up to you with something amazing. I've been on the hunt for flakie polishes for some time. Golden Rose has a whole line of these, but although the GR regular line is widely available over here, the flakies are not. So I finally decided to treat myself to this Nubar beauty from ebay. I'm not sorry at all!

Nubar 2010 over different polishes in the sun
Nubar 2010 is definitely a layering polish. It consists of golden iridescent flakies in a clear base. The flakies are pretty dense, but not as dense as the new Essie Luxeffects Shine of the Times (swatched by the lovely Marisa here). With the Nubar, you can still see a lot of the base color trough the flakies. All my photos show just one coat of Nubar 2010 over different polishes.

Instead of showing you Nubar 2010 over one base color, I decided to swatch it over multiple bases, so you can have an idea of how it looks in different combos. The base of the Nubar is clear, so it won't alter the color of the polish underneath. I chose 3 of my favorite polishes and a black: China Glaze Velvet Bow, Essie School of Hard Rocks, China Glaze First Mate and Moyra 50.

As you can see, the flakies in this polish have a multichrome effect to them. Their color goes from gold to copper to green depending on the light. I think the effect is gorgeous and the colors go better with the fall season, but they still make a great holiday manicure, especially if you layer it over red.

You can see that in the bottle, the flakies appear to be more densely packed than on the nail. However, if you want them to be more intense, you can just layer another coat. I wanted to show you how one coat looks and you can go from there. I love flakies and I love this polish! I wish these were more widely available. Now I'm on the lookout for a blue flakie (obviously). Hope you enjoyed this post! What do you think?

  1. This is lovely on you Mihaela, I love how you have shown it over a few different colours. I have only worn 2010 maybe once since I got it and every time I see someone else wearing it I wonder why I don't more often xx

  3. @Rebecca Thanks! That's a shame! It should get more love!xx

@Marisa My pleasure. It's great when people look at both our posts and get an idea about how these compare, even if we didn't do a side-by-side comparison.
