Blue for World Autism Awareness Day

Hello my lovelies! Hope your week has started ok. Some of you may know that today is World Autism Awareness Day. A lot of buildings around the world will light up blue to raise awareness about autism. Sheila from Pointless Cafe suggested we should all paint our nails blue for this day and since blue is my all time favorite nail polish color I couldn't miss this challenge. For more info about this campaign and how you can help go to this site.

I decided to use my all time favorite blue and possibly my favorite polish of all time for this post. It's called China Glaze First Mate but I like to call it my trusty first mate. This polish has been trough a lot of manicures but I still didn't manage to get some proper swatches of it on my blog. This was the perfect occasion to do it!

First Mate is an amazing navy creme. It comes from last year's spring collection, Anchors Away, and it has the most perfect color and formula. The picture shows two coats without any top coat. I did a second coat because the first one wasn't applied very well. The color is pretty opaque itself so you could get away with just one.

Since I was missing my stamping tools I decided to do a super-subtle stamping with a-england Tristam. And I do mean super-duper subtle! Tristam is very similar in color with First Mate, only it's a scattered holo. So the pattern doesn't show very well in the pictures. You can see it better in reality and the holo plays so nicely in the sun!

I used my m69 plate from Born Pretty for the stamping. Here are some sun pictures to see the holo effect.

I hope you enjoyed this post and make sure to find your own way to light it up blue!
