a-england Avalon

Hello my lovelies! How are you all doing? I'm enjoying the last days of Olympics and I'm pretty bummed that  they are almost over. If you've missed my Olympics themed nail art from a few days ago, you can see it here. But today I have another British beauty to show you. It's the first from the 4 a-englands I got in the sale. Let's take a look!

a-england Avalon indoors, artificial light
This polish is so hard to describe and very hard to photograph. It's described as an "incandescent regal and royal purple" on the a-england website. The color is a medium-toned purple. I compared it to different purples and next to a red-toned purple (like Barry M Bright Purple) it looks blue-toned, but next to a blue-toned purple (like China Glaze Grape Pop) it looks red-toned. So I guess it's somewhere in between. The shimmer in it is also very complex. It dries to a shiny finish and the shimmer makes it almost look like foil. But in the sun it comes out to play and you can see the different colors.

a-england Avalon in the sun
There are little magenta shimmers that can only be visible in the sun. It was impossible for me to photograph the color properly. It is warmer in real life than it is in my pictures. This is a polish that you have to see for yourself. I was convinced by the lovely Radha to get this and I don't regret it at all! The beauty of this polish is i the different aspects that it has depending on the light.

Application is, like always with a-englands, a breeze. It needs 2 coats to be opaque and dries pretty fast. I did use some fast dry top coat to make it dry even faster. After one day of wear, I did some matte dots a la Fab Fingertips on top. I used Color Club Matte-ified and a medium dotting tool to create this.

I'm not sure how I feel about this type of subtle nail art, but it was an interesting experiment. This can also be done the other way: matte polish with shiny dots. Please tell me in the comments what you think!

I'm very happy I got this polish and I can't wait to wear it in the fall and winter. It's definitely a unique and elegant shade with an edgy finish!

  1. Purple! I love the color, but I can't seem to make it work for me, purples seem to have the worst formula (at least in my experience, I just gave my CG Coconut Kiss away), but maybe I get my hands on this one some day.

  5. I don't have that ChG but I just googled it and I've seen many complain about the formula. This is not like that! You won't have any issues with it!
