Orly Rage

Hello my lovelies! After surviving the blues of Monday, I sure hope that this week will be less stressful than the previous one. At least the weather has improved slightly. I have a lot of pictures from these past weeks to show you, but today I wanted to post something I'm wearing right now. Every manicure waits between 3 days and 2 weeks to be posted on the blog usually, because I'm so behind. This one got me so excited that I just couldn't wait to show it to you. So here it is!

Orly Rage indoors, artificial light
For some reason, I'm really into gold lately and since it usually looks horrible on my cool-toned skin, I wanted a rose gold polish because I knew it would look better. After hearing horror stories about the formula of the Essie Mirror Metallics, I decided to go with this one from Orly. It comes from the Foil FX collection from, I believe, spring 2010 and it's just what I needed.

Metallics and foils are so in this fall and all the promos and pictures got me craving for one too. Rage is a very interesting foil that can look different depending on the light. In some lights it looks more coppery, while in others (in the sun for instance) it looks rose gold. I think it's a really sophisticated shade that can be worn by anyone. It's not that blingy compared to other foils because of the neutral, delicate color.

The formula is very good on this one and it's opaque in 2 easy coats. The streaks are practically nonexistent with Rage, as opposed to other foils. It also photographed beautifully and it was very hard to choose between the pictures because they were all so great. I can't help to think about a-england Excalibur which I tried to swatch twice and never managed to get some decent pictures without horrible streaks. This one is definitely easier to photograph.

I'm so glad I got this polish and I can see myself wearing it as an accent nail with many polishes. It would also be great for a half moon or a Ruffian manicure, but I enjoy it by itself as well.

  4. I usually don't look good in metal shades of metallics (silver, gold, bronze) - they all go too frosty for me. But I found this one last holiday. Orly had it being sold at Sally's in a 3 shade promote for New Year's Eve. Rage got my eyeball. It works on my skin tone well and has remained through this past yr up there among my fav shades. I did recently see it again on the classic wall for Orly at both a CVS and at Sally's - so it should be pretty easy to come by still today. Glad you found it and it worked so well for you too. I really recommend it for others to try.

  7. It's such a great neutral metallic shade! Not too over the top but still very interesting. I got it from nailsupplies.us and I think pretty much every e-tailer has it so it's really easy to find.

  11. Oh don't worry. I'm behind with posting because I used to do a lot of manis before school started. But I'm slowly catching up. And all I have in the vault right now are swatches and no nail art. And I can't do crazy nail art during the week and go to class like that. So yeah, I will most likely do Sweden next weekend even though I already know what I wanna do.

Thanks! Will definitely try it for stamping!
