Hello lovelies! It's the first Monday Blues of the year, yay! Unfortunately this is not a very happy day for me because I start classes again today. But in the attempt to take at least some of the Monday Blues away, I will show you a suede polish from Avon. I'm not sure about the availability of this polish because Avon stuff is always so random. To me it was available in the small Color Trend bottle, but I've seen that some got the same polish in the big square bottle. Bottom line, the name is Blue Royale and I'm pretty sure it's the same polish and it looks like this.

If you don't know what a suede polish is, it's a matte that has a lot of shimmer in it, silver shimmer namely, which creates a suede-like effect on the nail. This is a very nice navy color, packed with silver shimmer. I really wanted to show you how it looks with top coat but it didn't last long enough on the nails. So all my pictures show it without any top coat. I've also heard that it's a dupe for OPI's Russian Navy suede. I don't have that one, so I can't really say if it's true. There's a comparison by Polish Jinx and you can check it out here. It does look very similar to my Barry M Denim though, and a comparison is in order.

Now this polish is really beautiful, I agree with that. But other than that, there are not many good words to be said about it. First, the application is terrible. It is pretty opaque, so 2 coats were all that it required. But it's sort of a thick paste that dries as soon as you take it out of the bottle. So dragging and major bald spots will occur. I guess the short drying time is a good thing, but this dries too fast. I didn't think I would ever say that about a polish, but it's true. Another awful thing is the durability. I know that matte and suede polishes are supposed to chip fast and this did chip after just one day. But it also did something that no other polish in my experience has done. It scratched off. I caught a glimpse of my nail and saw a big hole in the polish. It just came off. I was baffled.

I really don't know what to say about this as a conclusion. If you really want a dupe for Russian Navy and can't get it, go for it. But don't expect to wear this more than one day. I still have another Avon suede to swatch, so we'll see about that one. They are very cheap and I don't really regret buying them. Meanwhile, check out some other Monday Blues from these ladies:
ReplyDeleteThis looks great!! I haven't seen the Color Trend line from them before. I don't think they sell those here. Sorry about the formula :(.

I'm bummed that you're having trouble with this polish! I love mine! Are you using a good base coat? I have these suedes in every color and I couldn't be happier with them. I know I've worn the purple one for 3 days straight. It does show tip wear, but I haven't had the other issues.
ReplyDeleteSi mie imi place finish-ul suede! Eu mai am si Soft Violet dar n-am apucat inca s-o incerc. Pana acuma cele de la Golden Rose par mai rezistente.
ReplyDeleteCele suede sunt intotdeauna frumoase!
ReplyDeleteYeah it's weird. There's a whole line here, with makeup and polish. And they are cheaper than other Avon products.
ReplyDeleteMultumesc frumos!
ReplyDeleteE pacat intradevar. Oricum cred ca au si scos-o din catalog campania asta. Nu stiu daca mai vand ojele suede.
ReplyDeleteI think I've used OPI Nail Envy under it. Maybe it has a different formula since mine is in a different bottle and is from the Color Trend line. It's really weird.
