Monday Blues: Barielle Blackened Bleu

Hello lovelies! How was your weekend? Mine was very relaxing an low key. I also swatched a lot of makeup yesterday, and the first post went up last night. I still have another makeup palette to show you this week. Meanwhile, let's try to make this Monday acceptable by looking at some blue polish. Here we go!

So you've probably heard the saying "when a door closes, another one opens". About two months ago I reviewed MUA Shade 1, a dark blue with very fine shimmer. I didn't like the fact that the shimmer was hardly visible unless it was in direct light. One of my friends saw it on my blog and told me how much she liked it, so I gladly gifted it to her. And then, a few weeks later, I received this beauty as a birthday present from another dear friend. It was all I ever expected from a shimmery dark blue!

I've only had one brief experience with this brand and I gave that one away too because it was not what I expected when I bought it. Blackened Bleu on the other hand, is pure love. It's a very dark blue base with light blue shimmer. The shimmer is actually more teal and it's unbelievably dense. It can be seen in any light, so there is no way this polish can look like you're wearing plain black on your nails.

In terms of application this is not that great, which makes me think that this brand is not something I would try again soon. It's very sheer and it needs 3 coats to be opaque. Even with 3 coats there were still some bald spots, but they don't show up in the pictures. It's possible that the sheerness of the base is intentional to make the shimmer stand out more. The polish dries fast and to a very high shine. I actually took some pictures before applying top coat and I can't tell you which ones they are.
