Colorful Stripes

Hello lovelies! I hope your day is full of sun! Over here it's raining like it's fall and I have no idea where summer went. Oh well. Today's post comes from the untried challenge I started a few weeks ago. The theme for today was "Three Colors" and here's what I came up with.

This manicure looks simple, but it actually takes a bit of time to create. The 3 untried polishes I used are Illamasqua Nomad, Essence Glorious Blue Sky and Essence Movie Star.

I started with 2 coats of Illamasqua Nomad, a gorgeous jade creme that looks somewhere between turquoise and green. It's very hard to capture on camera but I did my best. What you see below are 2 coats.

On top of this, I painted the blue (Essence Glorious Blue Sky) diagonally about half down the nail. I need to review this polish separately, but I will say that it's a stainer, so beware! After this, I applied a coat of Seche Vite to make everything dry faster. After waiting for about 15-20 minutes, I used some striping tape to cover two diagonal lines on each nail. I painted a generous coat of Essence Movie Star on top, then quickly removed the tape. I finished everything with another coat of Seche Vite.

I must admit that I wasn't too crazy about this manicure. The grey is too dark and there was little contrast between the grey and the blue. So the green stripe was the only one visible in some lights. I still wore it for about 3 days because I didn't have time to change it and the polishes held up pretty well.

I would probably try this design with different colors in the future. I'm thinking neon stripes with a neutral color. Meanwhile, here's the banner of this challenge.
