Monday Blues: Revlon Royal

Hello my lovelies! Can you believe it's Monday again? I sure can't! But since we have to go back to work I should at least show you an amazing blue. I'm so happy to post the one from today. It's been on top of my wishlist since forever and I had lost all hope to ever own it like I've told you in this post. But then I had the immense luck to find it on a discount website called Fragrance Direct. I couldn't believe my eyes! One week later and it was all mine.

As it usually happens with dark colors like this one, it was pretty hard to photograph. It kept reflecting everything and for that I apologize. Royal is a royal blue jelly that is actually more pigmented than I was expecting. Two coats are enough to get this perfectly opaque.

Application was easy with this polish because it just glided on the nail. The problem was that I got some bubbles on each nail after it dried. Nothing a good coat of Seche Vite can't solve, but I still wonder what the cause of those bubbles was. Royal dries to a semi-matte finish so top coat is mandatory to make it shiny. Considering that this is a jelly, I had to do a jelly sandwich with it right away. I started with a coat of Barry M Diamong Glitter, that looks like this.

I then fished out some larger hex glitters from OPI Crown Me Already! and also placed some round silver glequins randomly on the nails. I then layered a thinner coat of Royal and finished with some top coat to make it shiny.

I love how this looks! The larger glitters give it a lot of dimension even though they didn't lay perfectly flat on the nail. On my left hand I just layered a coat of Max Factor Fantasy Fire over Royal. These two were made for each other!

This was a long post and I hope I didn't bore you. I just wanted to show you how many amazing things you can do with this polish. And I still have a few more ideas. One thing I know for sure is that every blue polish lover should own this beauty. Now go check out the other gorgeous Monday Blues of August here:

Have a great week!

  9. Not sure where you are located but if you are in the US I think you can get it cheaper on Amazon. But if you are in Europe it's a lot cheaper on Fragrance Direct. You need this polish!
