Getting Ready for Christmas: Under the Mistletoe

Hello my lovelies! I'm back from my trip with lots of energy and polishes to show you. The Getting Ready for Christmas challenge is well on its way and I'm a little behind the other girls, but I plan to catch up soon. Today's theme is a little tricky and can be interpreted in many ways. I decided to not take the obvious approach of painting mistletoe on my nails and instead tried to paint something that can be found under the mistletoe: a Christmas sweater. I know a lot of people like to wear this type of patterned sweaters this time of the year, so I tried to recreate it on my nails. It didn't come out quite as I wanted but I still like it.

First off, I wanted to use diamond glequins to do the stars in the middle. I then freehanded the rest of the pattern using a thin brush. I chose a polish that looked similar to the color of the glequins, Farmasi 52. The only issue was that the glequins didn't photograph true to color. I can assure you that they are a lot more red in real life.

After doing this design I found out that my camera was out of battery, so I used my phone to take these photos. I think they came out pretty good, although the skin color is a little off. Here's one in direct light that looks the most true to color.

I love Christmas sweater nails and I definitely need to try them again soon. To keep up with this challenge follow Elsa's Facebook page where you can find pictures and links to all the entries!
