TPA Group Challenge: Fishtail Nails

Hello my lovelies! It's Saturday and that means some relaxation is in order. I've had a long and snowy week, so all I wanna do is hang out in bed with a book. After doing that for a couple of hours, I came to my computer to write this post because I have some exciting nails to show you. Can you believe that I've never tried fishtail nails before? I sure don't! That's why I love these challenges, because they remind you of techniques that you've been meaning to try since forever. I did these nails last weekend and couldn't wait to show them to you. I really really love how they came out!

I don't remember who invented the fishtail braid technique, so I apologize for not giving proper credit. I think it's pretty easy to create these, but if you need a tutorial there's a really good one over at Lucy's Stash. I decided to use my beloved A-england polishes for these nails because they are almost one coaters, which makes them perfect for this type of nail art. The shades I used are Saint George, Dragon and Holy Grail (new edition). The result was a very sparkly and jewel like manicure. This actually reminds me of a dragon tail rather than a fishtail.

I found this type of nail art very easy to create but it does require patience. I decided to do my stripes thinner, which means I needed a lot of them to cover my whole nail. I suggest using opaque polishes for this to make coverage easy in just one stripe. I would also avoid ones with wide brushes because they are less precise. Finally, a bit of waiting is required after each stripe to let it dry so it doesn't get smudged by the next one. I would recommend watching a show or a movie while you do this so you don't get bored and mess it up.

I'm very happy with how these nails worked out and I will surely use this technique again soon. It's a type of nail art that is not hard to achieve. You don't need a lot of skill or tools to do this but the result is beautiful. I can't wait to see the other manicures from today's challenge.
