Monday Blues: Maybelline Lilac Rebel

Hello my lovelies! It's the last Monday of 2014! It's been an amazing year and I posted on every single Monday of it. I'm so happy! And to continue that tradition I've already prepared the Monday Blues link-ups for next year. We really need some new members so if you are a nail blogger and are interested in joining us I created a Facebook group to keep in touch (link here). You can also email me (mihaela.od[at]gmail[dot]com) so I can send you the codes if you don't have a Facebook account. All you have to do is post a blue manicure on Monday and then you can add yourself to the link-up and insert it in your post. I really hope many of you join us! Now that we have that figured out, let's get to today's blue polish.

First Snow

Hello my lovelies! Can you believe this week is almost over? Christmas went by so fast! I'm looking forward to the new year and a fresh start. Today was a good day because when I woke up this morning everything was covered in snow. It was the first proper snow of this year and even though it started to melt immediately there is still some left as I'm writing this. To go with that I'm gonna show you a manicure I wore last week. It was actually a recreation of my snowflake sandwich using a nude jelly. Here's how it looks.

Snowy Christmas Trees

Hello my lovelies! It's Christmas Eve morning and it's the beginning of 5 days of no work for me. This has put me in a great mood, one that determined me to start writing this post for you. This is the first proper Christmas manicure I've done this year and I couldn't wait to show it to you. It's simple, but still holiday appropriate. Hope you like it!

Monday Blues: Dreaming of Snow

Hello my lovelies! It's almost dinner time in my neck of the woods so I think this is the latest I've ever posted the Monday Blues post. Better late than never is what I always say! I've been at work today and then I did some Christmas shopping and then here we are. I hear that there won't be any snow this Christmas in my town, which makes me a little sad because it's the only time of the year when I love snow. And that's because I can stay at home and don't have to shovel it around or anything like that. I'm trying to make myself feel better by looking at these nails. They totally remind me of snow and give me that winter feeling.

Ciaté Antique Brooch

Hello my lovelies! Sorry for the lack of posts this week but it's been a crazy one again. I'm finally getting some rest this weekend and catching up on life. I haven't done a proper Christmas themed manicure yet this year so I hope I can get on that tonight. Since I don't have a holiday manicure to show you I decided to post some pictures that have been sitting in my folders for ages. These nails look kinda festive in my opinion. I know that the brand Ciaté is kind of a controversial one but I won't get into that. This polish is truly beautiful and that's the only thing I care about.

Monday Blues: Snowflake Sandwich

Hello my lovelies! It's Monday, my holiday is over and I'm back at work. But I'm not here to talk about depressing stuff, I'm here to brighten your day with a blue manicure. I created these nails for my holiday and wore them the whole week without ever getting bored of them for a bit. They also looked amazing until the end, except for the growth at the base. The inspiration came from a manicure I saw on Facebook, but I must confess that I don't remember who it was by. So I'm really sorry for not giving proper credit. Anyway, without further ado, here's the manicure.

China Glaze Intelligence, Integrity and Courage

Hello my lovelies! My holiday is almost over by now but this is still a scheduled post. It's about a polish I picked up a couple of months ago and didn't get to wear until later. It was my only pick from China Glaze's The Giver collection and I chose it because it seemed like one of those unusual colors that I like so much. The funny thing was that around that time I received a very similar polish from a friend, namely & Other Stories Blunt Grey. They are not identical because that one is more blue and this one is a bit darker and more grey, but they are still very similar. Which only goes to show that this is totally a me color and that my friends know me well.

a-england Tess D'Urbervilles

Hello my lovelies! As you are reading this I am away on a short holiday in Brussels. I didn't want to leave you hanging though, so I scheduled a couple of posts for you. I have a huge backlog of manicures from the last months and I hope I can catch up if I manage to do at least 3 posts a week from now on. This particular set of pictures is from October, so you can imagine how many others I have left. I borrowed this polish from my amazing friend Kinga and tried a little stamping on top as well. Let's take a look!

Monday Blues: Navy and Gold

Hello my lovelies! Today is a great day because it's the start of a holiday week for me. I'm leaving for a little vacation tomorrow so I'm really excited and already relaxed after a lazy weekend. The manicure I'm showing you today was supposed to be up a week earlier because it was supposed to be my birthday manicure. Sadly that wasn't possible because one of the polishes I used didn't get to me in time. There's actually a little story behind this polish and I'm gonna tell it briefly if you don't mind. But first off, let's see what we are talking about. It's the gorgeous and amazing 18K Gold Leaf top coat from Jessica.

Autumn favorites and haul

Hello my lovelies! Another week is almost over and since it was the first week of winter, it's time for a little autumn recap. I didn't do a recap post in October because there wasn't that much to show, but I decided to do one for both October and November. I guess that you've noticed that I haven't been posting much lately. I guess that the two posts per week schedule is a thing now, whether I like it or not. I still do nail art every once in a while, which means that I was able to come up with a few favorite manicures for the last two months. Here they are!

Monday Blues: First Snowflakes

Hello my lovelies! It's Monday but I'm not working today because it's a national holiday. It's also my birthday so naturally I had to have a blue manicure on my nails. December is starting today, which means it's time for winter nails. I created my very first winter themed nail art of the year yesterday to be prepared for the snow that will hopefully come this week. We actually had some snowflakes a few days ago but then it got warmer and it rained for almost two days. I'm not a big fan of the fall weather so I hope it goes back to snow soon. In the meantime, we can take a look at these nails.

Golden Butterflies

Hello my lovelies! I haven't been a good blogger this week and the main reason is the fact that tomorrow is my birthday and I had a party last night, so I spent most of my free time getting everything ready for that. I'm happy to report that the party was a success and I had lots of fun. It's time to get into nails again and show you a manicure that has been sitting in my vault for a really long time. I'm not sure how come I didn't post this earlier. But at least it's here and that's what's important. So here we go!

Monday Blues: Kiko 465

Hello my lovelies! Another weekend is over and this time it was a very relaxing one for me. I'm full of energy and ready to start the week. Winter is almost here, which makes me happy because I like winter a lot better than autumn. But first I have the last Monday Blue of November to show you. I haven't shown a matte polish on the blog in a long time and I decided to show you one I purchased this summer. They are perfect for autumn in my opinion. Here's what I'm talking about.

Farmec Autumn-Winter 2014 Nail Polish Collection - Swatches and Review

Hello my lovelies! It's Saturday and it's the perfect time to relax. I'm finally having a weekend that I can fully enjoy. My only job for today is to write this post and tell you everything about a collection of nail polishes brought out by a local brand. It's not the first time I talk about Farmec on my blog. It's a brand of cosmetics that comes from my very own city, Cluj, and has a tradition of over 120 years. I tried some of their polishes but always complained that the colors weren't very diverse. They finally started bringing out some fun shades starting in the summer of last year. So now they bring out small collections of 7 fun shades in the summer and autumn of every year. I received this year's autumn-winter collection at the last Beauty Bloggers Meeting Cluj and decided to swatch them all for you. This will be a massive post so grab a cup of coffee or tea and enjoy. I thought about breaking it into two posts but thought that having all the shades together would be better. So here we go!

Beauty Bloggers Meeting Cluj 3rd Edition

Hello my lovelies! Today's post is very different from what you are used to from this blog. I'm gonna tell you about an event that I took part in a couple of weeks ago. I am talking about the 3rd annual Beauty Bloggers Meeting Cluj. It's an event that takes place every November in our city and gathers all the makeup, nail and fashion bloggers so we can get to know each other, discuss our blogging experience and have lots of fun. I wasn't able to attend last year but I was lucky enough to be free this time so I kindly accepted the invitation.

Monday Blues: Nails Inc Connaught Square

Hello my lovelies! I think this is the latest I've ever posted a Monday Blues post in my entire "career" of two years and a half. Work has been kicking my ass lately but better late than never, as I always say. To compensate for my being late, I have some glitter to brighten our mood today. I don't know about you but I really need it. This glitter was given to me by my amazing friend Kinga. She decided that it was sitting uselessly in her collection and it needed a new home. I kindly offered mine so here it is on my nails.

Watercolor Palettes

Hello my lovelies! It's been a crazy crazy week as usual and on top of everything my laptop is playing tricks on me again. I've scheduled this post because despite it being Saturday I'm at work. My weekend isn't gonna be a great one but I hope yours will be a lot better. I sure hope it won't be too cold and gloomy. Today's manicure is one that I created ages ago and didn't have time to post. I was inspired by an image on a stamping plate from the creative people of MoYou London. I added a little something extra to it and here's the result.

Monday Blues: Silver Chevrons

Hello my lovelies! The weekend is over but the sun is shining and the weather is lovely, so how about we blow the Monday Blues away with some nails. The manicure I'm showing you today is a very simple one but it's what I love to wear in my everyday life. As usual I was inspired by my lovely friend Kinga who borrowed this stamping plate from me and used this image. It's great when other people take a look at your plates because they notice stuff that you haven't used and show you how much of your collection you ignored before. She used this image and showed me how amazing it is. So naturally I had to create a manicure with it.

Yes Love G17-2

Hello my lovelies! It's the weekend and boy am I happy that this week is over. It hasn't been a good one for me and I haven't been in the mood for nails and blogging. But I feel better now, I did my nails last night and I'm headed to the annual local beauty bloggers meeting. I'm so excited! It's gonna be great and I'm gonna tell you all about it in a future blog post. But first I want to quickly show you a polish that I've played with several weeks ago and didn't get to post about. It was a gift from my good friend Kinga. I already showed you a textured polish from this brand and now it's time for some glow in the dark glitter!

Monday Blues: Sinful Colors Blue By You

Hello my lovelies! Halloween is gone and we're officially in November. I'm not a big fan of this month but I'm gonna try to make the best of it. I can't wait for December to be here because it starts with my birthday and continues with other holidays I love. But meanwhile I will try to lighten up my and your mood with a beautiful blue. You might have noticed that I borrow a lot of polishes from my friend Kinga lately. I haven't purchased many polishes in the last months and her collection is very appealing to me. The polish I'm showing you today is pretty new in her collection and I think she hasn't even tried it yet. I couldn't resist it so here's how it looks.

Layla Thermo Effect No. 2 and Bubbly Effect Black Forest

Hello my lovelies! Long time no posts, right? At least the weekend is coming and I'm gonna have more free time for blogging. Today is Halloween and I really wanted to get a themed manicure up on the blog, but I didn't have any inspiration for nail art. Instead I did a little layering that reminded me of zombie nails. I started with a thermal polish that I got to borrow from my friend Kinga.

Monday Blues: & Other Stories Blunt Grey

Hello my lovelies! Today's Monday Blues post comes even later than usual because I'm having some issues with my computer and I've been trying to fix them ever since I came back from work. Other than that, today was a pretty good day. It's really cold outside but at least it's sunny. The polish I'm showing you today is perfect for the season and it's right up my alley. Don't be fooled by its name. I think there is a lot of blue in this one and nobody can deny that. Take a look!

Sephora Amethyst Stiletto

Hello my lovelies! First off, let me just apologize for the thousandth time for the lack of posts lately. I've been very busy and on top of everything I also got a cold. It's nothing serious but it's an excuse to sleep more and do less blogging. I have a ton of manicures to show you so I hope to get to writing those posts soon. I will start with an easy and quick one where I talk about a nail polish I got to try a few weeks ago. My good friend Kinga lent it to me and assured me it was awesome. Turns out she was right as always.

Monday Blues: China Glaze Dorothy Who?

Hello my lovelies! It's the first time in a long time when I really resent the fact that it's Monday today. I had to work on Saturday and didn't get a lot of sleep. So now I can't wait to go to bed. Hopefully this blue is gonna make us all feel better and make this day go by faster. It's one of the classic China Glaze shades that I had to have because I'm a big fan of this brand. I think everybody has heard of this polish so it needs no special introduction.

China Glaze Turned Up Turquoise

Hello my lovelies! It's Thursday, which means the weekend is getting closer. Unfortunately I have to work for half of this weekend so I'm really looking forward to Sunday when I will finally be able to relax. Today's post is all about a summery polish that I got to wear in October. Frankly, I've always been curious about this polish but I thought I had something similar in my collection. I got to try it through the courtesy of my friend Kinga and found out how special it is.

Monday Blues: Kiko 520

Hello my lovelies! Can you believe it's Monday again? I honestly don't know how but time is literally flying by. I guess that always happens when you enjoy your life. I can't complain about this day either, it's been a pretty decent Monday. The polish I'm showing you today is not a very spectacular one but I think it's perfect for fall. I'm a big fan of metallic shades during the cold season and even more so if they're also blue. This particular one is great!

Bizarre Marble

Hello my lovelies! It's been a really busy week for me, hence the lack of posts. I would like to apologize for that. My plan is to create a 3 post/week schedule and write some posts in advance so there's no danger of not posting because of the lack of time. I just have to figure out the days for those posts (besides Monday, of course). I'll keep you posted on that! Meanwhile I have a really fun manicure to show you today. I've used an image from a plate that has been in my possession for years and years, without me figuring out that it looks like a fake water marble. I've used some of the images on this plate but not this one. After I saw it on my friend Kinga's nails, I had to recreate the look. Of course I used different colors and her manicure is a lot better than mine, so make sure you check it out (click here).

Monday Blues: Yes Love G18-3

Hello my lovelies! It's the first Monday in October and even though I'm not that happy with summer being over, I try to console myself with the fact that my birthday is in less than 2 months. I must admit that today wasn't such a bad day and the polish I'm gonna show you is gonna make it even better. It comes from a brand I don't know much about and I didn't find a lot of info online either. I'll just take it as it is and thank my good friend Kinga for bringing it to me from her vacation. It's truly a beautiful polish!

Big Nails and a Jelly Sandwich

Hello my lovelies! As you are reading this, I am away for a conference again. I scheduled this post to keep you entertained while I'm gone. You are probably wondering about the crazy title of this post. I got inspired by the name of the polish I've used for this manicure, even though my nails aren't that big. They are still pretty long in these pictures compared to what I usually wear so I guess they are my version of big nails. Without further ado, here is the manicure.

September favorites and haul

Hello my lovelies! What can I say about September? This month has been a roller coaster for me and it definitely flew by. I was away, I worked a lot and exercised a lot. The weather has been warm for weeks, which is what I love. One of the best things about this month was the fact that I managed to do a lot of nail art. It's been the month of gradients because I just couldn't get enough of them. That's why most of my favorites include a gradient of some sort. I had a lot of options but ended up with these 4 manicures. Take a look!

Monday Blues: Blurple Plaid Nails

Hello my lovelies! Another week starts today and all I want is warm weather. We've had a very cold week, which was quite depressing because I'm so not ready for fall. Even though I'm a December baby I enjoy the summer and hate the cold. One thing I do like about fall is the fashion. I've noticed that the plaid pattern is really in this year and I love it. I tried to create my version of plaid nails and here's how it came out.

Hello my lovelies and happy Sunday! Believe it or not, I have no idea where this week went. I meant to blog some more but time just flew by. I'll try to redeem myself today with a manicure that I really enjoyed wearing. It's one of those manis that looks better in real life than in photos but I did my best to give you a glimpse of reality. Here's what I'm talking about.

Hello my lovelies! It seems that Monday is upon us again. But fear not cause I have some nail art to take your Monday Blues away. After stencils and stamping, you can also have chevron nails by using these colorful water decals from the Born Pretty Store. Here's the look that I created using them.

Born Pretty Store Stamping Plate Holder Review

Hello my lovelies and happy Sunday! Just a quick post today to show you a handy little object that the lovely people from the Born Pretty Store sent for review. It's a stamping plate organizer that can hold up to 24 plates at once. You probably know that I have a large stamping plate collection and I'm always on the lookout for a may to store them. This type of holder is perfect both for storage and for carrying your plates around. It looks like this.

Born Pretty Store QA91 Stamping Plate Review

Hello my lovelies! I don't know if you noticed, but lately the nail art world has been taken over by chevrons. Everybody has been doing them and there are tons of ways to achieve the look. I've already shown how you can create them by using nail stencils, and in the following days I will show you two more ways to get them on your nails, all courtesy of the Born Pretty Store. If you are a fan of stamping, there is now a stamping plate with a chevron image on it. They were kind enough to send it my way and I created this manicure using it.

A Korean Beauty: VOV 5311A

Hello my lovelies! It's the end of the week and it's finally time for me to get less lazy and show you some nails. I hope I will write a couple of posts this weekend so please expect lots of nail action from my blog in the following days. A few months ago was the birthday of my good friend Kinga, so naturally I had to get her some special polishes. She is really into milky glitters and hadn't tried any Asian polishes yet, so I decided to order some Korean beauties for her. I initially wanted some from Etude House but couldn't find any good ones online. Instead I went for The Face Shop and VOV, a brand I didn't know about before. If you wanna check out her review of the polish I got her from The Face Shop you can check it out here. While I was choosing the polishes for her, I saw this interesting one from VOV that I had to get for myself. Back in May when I reviewed this milky glitter polish set, I complained about the pink being too girly and sweet for my taste. This one on the other hand is more of a lilac pink and it's perfect. See for yourself!

Monday Blues: Roses Are Blue

Hello my lovelies! It's Monday, which means I'm bringing a new blue manicure to the blog. I've had a great relaxing weekend so there's no reason to feel down today. I always say that there's no reason to hate Mondays if you love your job. The nails I'm showing you today were done in a hurry and the stamping isn't that perfect, but I still like the image and the colors together. So here we go!

Last Summer Gradient

Hello my lovelies! I know I've been a bad blogger again and didn't post much this week. Well my only excuse is that I had a really busy and stressful week at work. At least the weather is great and we can still enjoy wearing our summer clothes. I don't know about you, but I feel that this summer went by extremely fast. I am really not looking forward for autumn weather. And speaking of summer, today's manicure is all about the neons. I created this gradient using my two favorite shades from this year's summer collection from China Glaze. They are both very bright and gorgeous, so I think they go well together.

Monday Blues: Reciprocal Gradient

Hello my lovelies! Today's post comes a little later than usual because I was away and didn't have anything prepared in advance. I also worked a lot to do these nails and I'm very happy with how they turned out. I must admit that it took me quite a lot of time to finish them, but I think it's totally worth it. A few months ago I tried to create my first reciprocal gradient, which turned into a fiasco that I didn't even post on here. After that I swore to never try it again, but after I created a successful scaled gradient, I was encouraged to give it another shot. Here's how it turned out.

Alphabet Nail Art Challenge: Letter S

Hello my lovelies! It's Saturday so that means it's time for another installment of the Alphabet Nail Art Challenge. This week's letter is S, so I decided to show you a scaled gradient. If you don't know what a scaled gradient is, don't worry because I had no idea either until a couple of weeks ago. But then I discovered the talented artist called Simply Nailogical. She's the queen of scaled gradients and she also has lots of tutorials on her blog and Instagram profile. The particular one that inspired me can be found here. Of course I only did two layers and used two colors for my manicure, so it's only half as awesome as her's. I still loved the result though.

OPI Can't Let Go and My Vampire Is Buff

Hello my lovelies! I'm really proud of myself because I'm not a bad blogger anymore. Even though I'm going away for a conference this week, I still managed to schedule some posts for you to read while I'm gone. The first one is this one, where I will be showing you two OPI shades that I've swatched through the courtesy of my friend Kinga. Unlike me, she has a larger OPI collection and I managed to borrow a few of them in the last months. First up we have a gorgeous purple Liquid Sand that I really loved.

Summer favorites and haul

Hello my lovelies! August is over, which means a little recap is in order. I didn't do one of these posts for July, just because there wasn't much to show, so now I have two months worth of favorites and purchases to show you (hence the title). It's been quite a busy summer for me so nail art wasn't my priority. I didn't post much and the manicures I posted were quite simple. I did manage to gather a few favorites though so here they are.

Monday Blues: OPI Can't Find My Czechbook

Hello my lovelies! It's the first day of September which means summer is over but it also means it's time for a new start. There's something awesome about months that start on a Monday. It's the perfect day to make resolutions and start new projects. My resolution for this month is to be a better blogger and post more. Let's see how it's gonna go. The first blue of the month is a truly awesome one. It comes from the OPI Euro Centrale collection and it's the first polish from this collection that I actually own. I have previously tried You're Such a Budapest and My Vampire Is Buff, but wasn't impressed by neither of them. It's a whole other story with this one though.

Alphabet Nail Art Challenge: Letter R and a Mani Swap

Hello my lovelies! It's the weekend, yaay! I woke up this morning in a really good mood and didn't want to leave my bed because I'm currently reading a great book (Stephen King's Doctor Sleep). I finally decided to get my act together and write this post for you because I'm really excited to show today's manicure. First off, some of you might remember the Alphabet Nail Art Challenge that I participated in a couple of times. It's been a long while since I did a manicure for this challenge and it was high time because they got to letter R already so it's gonna be over soon. This week's theme was perfect for what I already wanted to show you today. My first ever mani swap! If you don't know what that is, you basically get inspired by another nail artist and recreate one of their manicures while they recreate one of your manicures as well. Naturally my first ever mani swap had to be with my best friend in the nail world and a person who has become a great friend in my real life too. Her name is Kinga and we met on Instagram over a year ago. After that we met in real life and we now live 10 minutes away from each other. She also has a blog called Polish Blue My Mind, so I urge you to get over there and show her some love because she's incredibly talented. I recreated one of my favorite manicures from her blog. Here's what came out.

Color Club Disco Dress

Hello my lovelies! It's been a very long week and I'm so glad that it's finally Friday. I'm trying to get rid of my backlog of manicures from the last months because I really need to show you the newer ones. A few days ago I randomly found these pictures that are about two months old and decided to show them to you even though I'm not completely satisfied with how they came out. I got this polish in my latest Head2toe Beauty haul that I now realize I forgot to show you. It's very bright, almost a neon, but because it's a darker color it doesn't fall exactly in the neon category.

Monday Blues: Sinful Colors Cinderella

Hello my lovelies! I won't even mention the m-word today because it's painful enough as it is. I will just get straight to the blue and hope this day goes by as fast as possible. The blue I'm showing you today is a very famous one and I think a lot of you have heard about it. As I mentioned in my previous post, Sinful Colors is a brand that is not available in my country, so even though Cinderella was on my lemming list, I was pretty sure that I will never get my hands on it. Luckily, I found a SC display in an Italian drugstore when I was on my trip, so this beauty came home with me.

Sinful Colors Nail Junkie

Hello my lovelies! It's Saturday and that means almost everyone is relaxing somehow. If you are at work today I feel for you, but maybe I can cheer you up with this post. Over a month ago I received my very first Sinful Colors nail polish as a surprise from my lovely friend Kinga. Not only did my nail polish collector heart skip a beat, but I was in love with the actual shade. I wore it right away but of course I forgot to post about it on the blog. I acquired my second Sinful Colors shade in the meantime and since it will be the subject of Monday's post, I had to show this one first. So here we go!

Born Pretty Store Giveaway

Hello my lovelies! I know that I have been a really bad blogger lately because I haven't been posting as much as I should. There are a lot of reasons for that but I'm going to leave them for another post, one that will tell you more about my life and the stuff I've been going through in the last year. I hope that this post will be up on my blogiversary, which is in about two and a half weeks. Lacquer Buzz is turning 3! And although there have been ups and downs, I'm still very proud that my blog is still up and running after all this time. To celebrate this event, I have teamed up with the Born Pretty Store to bring you a little giveaway. It's the second time I do a giveaway with them and I can assure you that last year's winner was very happy with the prize. It's a 20$ voucher for you to spend on whatever you desire in the store.

Monday Blues: Layla Ocean Rush

Hello my lovelies! It's Monday again and I have an awful day ahead, so I scheduled this post in advance to make sure I don't miss this Monday Blues. The greatest thing about going on vacation to foreign countries (besides seeing new places, hearing a different language and eating new things) is finding different brands of nail polish. A couple of weeks ago I went to Italy so naturally I was on the lookout for some amazing polishes. Layla is one of the brands that I never tried in my life, so when I saw them in a drugstore I almost squealed, especially because I found the Hologram Effect line. If you know me, you probably already know which one I picked.

Neon Marbled Decals

Hello my lovelies! It's the weekend which means I finally have time to write some posts. This was another crazy week for me and an even crazier one will follow so I'm just glad to be able to get some rest and relaxation for a change. The manicure I'm showing you today is from before my vacation. I got inspired by a tutorial from the talented Cristina from Let them have Polish! to create some marbled decals. I will explain everything in detail but first let's take a look at the final result.
