Monday Blues: Spring Gradient

Hello my lovelies! Oh, what a crazy Monday this has been. Work has been hectic so I suspended all afternoon activities (like going to the gym) to take some time to relax. I'm still not in the mood to talk much but I have to tell you a few words about today's manicure. As I've mentioned in my last post, I started wearing pastels and bright colors last week to celebrate the coming of spring. I was in the mood for a gradient and some polka dots, so I took out my tools and this is the result. Hope you like it!

I decided to create a gradient using mint and light blue. The colors came out a little similar in photos, so depending on your screen settings you might not see that there's a gradient on most of my nails but I can assure you it's there. I used Nicole by OPI Alex by the Books for the mint and Kiko 340 as the blue. I chose these two colors because they are fairly opaque, so they don't need a lot of coats for the gradient. I stamped an image from plate CH6 using white on top.

For the accent nail, I created some decals using my silicone baking mat and a butterfly shaped nail vinyl. I used the vinyl decal technique with both the polishes I used for the gradient to give a little dimension to the butterfly. The only issue I had was with the clear polish that I used for the decal because it bubbled at the edges and you could see the edge of the decal when you looked closely. I still need to find the perfect clear polish that doesn't bubble and doesn't become too stiff and thick after it dries.

This manicure is perfect for spring. I got a lot of compliments while wearing it, which was for almost a week. Let me know what you think of it in the comment section. And make sure you check out the rest of today's Monday Blues in the links below!

Have a great week!
