Monday Blues: Subtle Lines

Hello my lovelies! Happy new year! I'm really sorry that the first post of the year is so late but I do wish you all a very happy and productive 2018! It's been a while since my last post and I apologize for that. What can I say? I guess I needed the break because every time I tried to start blogging I felt that I just couldn't do it. I still do my nails once a week, and I still do nail art occasionally, so I have a few manicures to show you. First off, there's one from December that was inspired by the amazing My Simple Little Pleasures. It was a pin recreation (original pin here) that she did, but I actually used her technique rather than the one in the pin. Let's take a look!

Basically, this is a different version of the Ruffian manicure. Instead of having the bottom color show up at the base of the nail, it only shows on the sides. The manicure in the original pin was made by using a striper brush to do the stripes over the middle color, but I painted the color on the sides on the whole nail first and then the one in the middle, leaving the gold to peak at the sides. Hope my explanation made sense but if it didn't you can check out Colette's video cause she used the same technique.

The gold polish I used as the base color is from Yves Rocher's Botanical Color collection and it's called Metallic Gold (Or metallise). I received it as a gift and I must admit that it's the kind of color I would never buy for myself because it's a very yellow toned gold that clashes with my skin tone. It's also kind of sheer, so it's not good for stamping or other kinds of nail art but I'm glad I could use it this was. The blue I applied on top was p2 Ocean Lady from the Volume Gloss collection.

This is a very simple nail art that doesn't require any tools. It's also a great way to incorporate some gold or silver in your manicure without it being overwhelming. It actually looks very elegant in my opinion. Let me know what you think and don't forget to check out this month's Monday Blues in the links below!

Have a great week!
